The Simcoe County Jazz Society (SCJS) presents The Swing City Jazz Band on Sunday June 17th, 2:00-5:00pm at Sticky Fingers Bar & Grill, 150 Dunlop Street in Barrie.
ALL ARE WELCOME! Admission is $10 at the door for non-members, $5 for students and children under 12 are free.
The Swing City Jazz Band is led by reed-man and singer Chris Robinson. The Band was formed in 2012 and follows the traditional front line of trumpet, trombone, clarinet and saxophone with a back line of drums, acoustic bass and guitar or banjo.
The motto of the band is to play happy, foot-stomping New Orleans style jazz for dancing with a shaker or two of early swing a la Benny Goodman mixed in. Blues, ballads and swing vocals are provided by Chris, who’s great heroes of song are Louis Armstrong and Billie Holiday.
The lineup consists of Jamie Aug on drums, Ron Johnson on bass, Phil Disera on guitar, Davey Johnston on trumpet and Paul Tarusov on trombone.
The goal of “Swing City” is to provide an infectious, easy rhythm to inspire a dancing crowd, a few lighthearted laughs to keep everyone smiling, and a repertoire of familiar standards and rare items to spotlight the great talents of all our gifted musicians.
Come and join us for the final show of the 2017-2018 season!
We will be back in September with a special opening show for the 2018-2019. Stay tuned!
