The Simcoe County Jazz Society (SCJS) presents Adam Saunders and the Hammered Brass on Sunday October 21st, 2:00-5:00pm at Sticky Fingers Bar & Grill, 150 Dunlop Street in Barrie.
ALL ARE WELCOME! Admission is $10 at the door for non-members, $5 for students and children under 12 are free.
A gifted jazz pianist, bandleader, and performer, Adam Saunders has shared the stage with some of the world’s leading jazz musicians and played for significant occasions – corporate, private events and festivals throughout Canada and the USA. His home in King Township is a regular retreat for musicians traveling through Canada.
In addition to many performances with his own band – known as “The Hammered Brass” – Adam performs with a number of local bands and in a variety of venues. He has combined his love of flying with music and just might be seen landing his float plane in the Muskokas, Georgian Bay, or Temagami for a gig.
While Adam entertains with a variety of music, his love is traditional Dixieland Jazz. He enjoys music of many of the jazz greats, such as Louis Armstrong, Eddie Condon, and Jack Teagarden. He is also quite at home adapting audience requests of various types of music to his jazz style.
The Hammered Brass includes some of Adam’s most respected colleagues and friends – great jazz musicians. Distinguished performers in their own right, they are a dynamic team always promising a lively event. Adam is joined by Al Cox (trumpet), Scott Poll (clarinet), Peter Turner (trombone), ‘Doc’ Mike Walmsley (Guitar/Banjo), Abbey Scholzberg (bass) and Jamie Aug (drums).
