ALL ARE WELCOME! Admission is $10 at the door for non-members, $5 for students, and children under 12 are free.
The Lance Anderson Quintet
Lance Anderson – Director, Piano
In 1998 he co-produced The Oscar Peterson Multimedia CD ROM which is considered one of the world’s best jazz piano resources.
In 2015, Lance was music co-producer and performer on ‘Oscar With Love’ a critically acclaimed 3CD package that commemorated Oscar Peterson’s 90th birthday, that included some of the world’s top jazz pianists including Chick Corea, Ramsey Lewis, Michel Legrand, and Oliver Jones, playing Peterson compositions. It was released in America December 2017 on Mac Avenue Records. He performed ‘Sir Lancewell’ a new Peterson composition written for him, by the jazz great.
May 2017, saw the premiere of his orchestral arrangement of Oscar Peterson’s ‘Canadiana Suite’ with the Okanagan Symphony and Ballet Kelowna. It was a critical and popular success.
He also has a theatre production called ‘Oscar Peterson – The Jazz legend and the Man I Knew’ which played at Barrie’s ‘Colours of Music Festival’ and Huntsville’s Festival of the Arts.
Lance also created and directed The Last Waltz, which has thrilled audiences at the CNE Bandshell (Toronto), Norfolk County Fair (Simcoe), the Shenkman Theatre (Ottawa), Peterborough, Orillia, Cobourg, Collingwood, Peter’s Players in Gravenhurst, and at Hugh’s Room in Toronto, will make any event an extravaganza! They have headlined the Southside Shuffle, Wasaga Beach Blues Festival, and Kitchener Blues Festivals.
Simon Wallis – Saxophone
Simon Wallis is one of the country’s top session sax players. Toronto based, he is a member of the iconic Canadian band Lighthouse. He has played and recorded with Carmen McCrae, Mel Torme, Aretha Franklin, Solomon Burke, The Temptations, Natalie Cole, Paul Anka, Martha Reeves, and more.
Dave Dunlop – Trumpet
Dave Dunlop is originally from London Ontario and moved to Toronto to attend Humber College in 1975. Since then he has played in many clubs, studios and theatres throughout Ontario. Dave is the lead trumpet in Rob McConnell’s Boss Brass and has worked with Michael Buble, Shania Twain, Paul Anka, Diana Krall, Tito Puente, John Pizzarelli, Maria Schneider, Peter Appleyard, Manhattan Transfer, Phil Nimmons, and Doc Severinson. He has played at Jazz festivals in Montreal, Halifax, Montreux, Bern, Ottawa, and Toronto.
Dave has recently finished recording “The HANG”, his first solo CD. Co-written with Jim McGrath it is a mix of Smooth Jazz, Funk, and R&B. He is currently teaching at Humber College, writing new material for a second CD and still working in studios, theatres, and clubs.
Collin Barrett – Bass
Collin Barrett has played with Wynton Marsalis, Leonard Cohen, Jesse Cook, Holly Cole, Julian Lennon, Carol Welsman, and The Montuno Police.
Musician, producer, engineer, mixer, composer and educator Collin Barrett completed his Masters in composition at York University in Toronto, Canada.
Collin grew up in a musical family of four brothers from Manchester, England. He started playing bass at the age of twelve and began engineering and producing two years later. His diverse playing of many musical styles keeps him in demand on the Toronto music scene.
Ben Riley – Drums
A graduate of York University (Honours BFA), Ben Riley has been actively engaged in the Canadian music scene for over fifteen years. He has played alongside many luminaries such as Bruce Cockburn, Holly Cole, Michael Burgess, Molly Johnson, Joe Sealy, Doug Riley, Jake Langley, NOJO, Marc Jordan, Amy Sky, Moe Koffman, Domenic Troiano, Joshua Nelson (gospel singer/ Oprah Winfrey guest), Matt Dusk, Wynton Marsalis and Gary Burton among others.
Ben has toured extensively throughout Canada, Europe, the U.S., China and Japan with many highly acclaimed acts including Michael Kaeshammer, Bruce Cockburn, Bowfire, Sophie Milman and Matt Dusk. He has played on countless albums and hundreds of commercials, as well as music for film and TV.
